Designing and developing an interactive educational game addressed at students aged between 11 and 14 and wishing to learn Spanish in the UK. "The impostor" tells the story of 6 kids that speak Spanish and spend their summer in the Canary Islands. Through their interaction with other characters, they will have to discover who is the impostor among them.
The initial premise was creating a new educational content based on learning via the interaction with other users and using educational games.
BBC JAM requires an extremely high level of accessibility in its applications. Thus, JAM Spanish 11-14 can be used by the visually handicapped or nearly blind, or by people with movement or hearing disabilities, since all its contents have been voiced and subtitled and are accessible with the keyboard. In addition, JAM Spanish can be played with texts in Spanish, English and Welsh.
The creative line is based on a combination of illustration and 2D animation with realistic scenery of the island of Gran Canaria. The creative team of Secuoyas has visited Gran Canaria to do a photographic session for this project.
JAM Spanish 11-14 has been developed in Flash 7.0 so as to be then integrated in the elearning platform SCORM 2004.
